Grrrrrrr....

I LOVE the idea of a blog.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE pictures of my little man.

I DO NOT LOVE (trying not to use the word HATE) posting on the blog or wading through and organizing my many pictures.

Is this a diagnosable disorder???

I think so...it is called "being lazy".

So, I have a camera full of pictures that I have yet to download, organize, and post. My sister-in-law, Katie, has also used her new camera and skills to take two photo shoots of Owen.
They are still on CD's.

Where do I even begin?

How does anyone have time to keep up on pictures and create these gorgeous blogs that will be amazing collections of memories for their families? (This is a serious question.)

It takes me soooooo long to just do one post.

I have to be doing something wrong.

I don't get it.

Here are a few shots of Owen from the last time we were visiting up north.

Thanks, Katie!!!

I need some ideas...

I was recently called as a mid-week activity coordinator for our Relief Society at church. (Basically planning enrichment and other activities or our church's women's organization.) I know many of you have planned a ton of creative ideas...and I need some fresh ideas!

In particular, we are planning a pre-holiday super Saturday craft activity.

  • What is your favorite pumpkin related craft?
  • What are your favorite holiday (Christmas) craft ideas?
  • What have your favorite RS activities in general been?

I would love the input!!! THANKS!

Baby's Room

Since we found out we were having a boy we kept the sports theme in our spare room. The treadmill will stay for now until the little guy needs some more room to move around.

Thank you to all of our wonderful family and friends for helping us outfit baby's room!

Based upon the number of times the little guy has jumped around inside me tonight...
I'm going to say that he likes it!

(Remember to leave your email address if you would like to have access to view the blog once we go private!)

Going Private...

With the upcoming arrival of baby boy (and the anticipated amount of pictures to be posted) Kaleb and I have decided to make the blog private in the near future. Please post your email if you would like an invite to be able to read the blog. Thanks!

From Walking to Waddling...

36 Weeks and 2 Days
26 Days to go!

Although the clothing selection is becoming more limited now that I am fully in maternity wear,
I DO have more than just this one outfit!
I just seem to always snap a picture in these clothes.

Some of my very best friends...

Brodee, Nikki, Mom, Gma, Me, Loni

About a month ago I went to a sleepover at my cousin Brodee's house. My grandma, mom, aunts (Nikki and Loni) and I crashed Brodee and Brandon's house and had a great time. We spent a couple of days hanging out, shopping for grandma's house redo, eating great food, and making snarky comments about Aunt Loni's safety in the streets! (You had to be there...)

These are some of the greatest women I know. If you know anything about my history during my high school years, some would see it as a great challenge that I struggled with health problems that kept me away from high school and many social opportunities with friends. However, I have long since come to realize that my high school years afforded me great opportunities to build relationships with my immediate and extended family. There are few things in life that I am more grateful for than an opportunity to build strong relationships with the women above...especially a special connection with my Gpa and Gma.

Kitchen Cabinets

Our kitchen cabinets have been in need of a facelift for quite sometime. We went the budget friendly route of sanding and painting the fake wood cupboards a nice glossy black with the hopes that they would look fresh, clean, and a bit more modern. I AM NOT a crafter/do-it-yourself/project kind of girl...but after a few days of work, with Kaleb leading the way, we were happy with the results.

Here are the before shots...(I didn't think to grab the camera until we had started sanding. The first two are after a bit of sanding...but the third is just with the knobs removed.)

During...

Close up of before and after of one cupboard...the before was really before sanding too!

After shots...

For a tiny little kitchen there were 20 cupboard faces and three drawers! Lots of storage...but what a ton of work!

The process took a lot longer than we had anticipated, however it turned out much better than we had expected.

Prego Picture

This was taken a little over a week ago at
26 weeks
.
We are now well into week 27 and almost done with the 2nd trimester.
I really do feel better than my face looks in this picture!

Happy Mother's Day

I am not a huge fan of ice cream...but let me tell you that I look like
I have been eating a pint of this ice cream each night since the beginning of the year!

Especially the "half baked" variety...
because...

BABY BOY WIDMIER is half baked!

20 weeks down & 20 weeks to go!

Laughing Out Loud...

Obviously everyone needs a good piece of chocolate cake in their lives!

Kaleb and I were just laughing about the fact that my post about chocolate cake has received more comments than just about any other post we have ever written! :)

It was pretty amazing...wish I could have shared with each of you!

"If you build it...he will come"

Nothing like a good Field of Dreams moment...

"If I text it...Kaleb comes through!"

I was home a few mornings ago...watching TV...someone on a show just said the words "chocolate cake" and I was hooked!

Now, I am not really a cake lover...but I couldn't stop thinking of chocolate cake, more specifically Maggiano's Chocolate Zuccotto Cake.

I sent a quick text to Kaleb telling him that I was dreaming of Zuccotto cake.
Just mentioned it...no requests.

12 hours later I had forgotten the cake craving until Kaleb walked through the door,
home from work, with this beauty in his hands!

Best Husband of the Year Award clinched!!!

Long distance call...

On Sunday I called my parent's home to say hello and five out of our 10 nephews and nieces were running around the house. I asked to talk to the older three just to hear their little voices, tell them hello, and give them an "I love you!" Lucy (4) and Meela (4) carried on brief two minute conversations with me and Jack (6) was convinced to step away from the computer game to say hello to his aunt...I heard in the background "ahhh fine I'll say hello"! :)

As I was saying goodbye to my mom she said that Cassidy (2) wanted to say hello to me. She isn't quite old enough to have a legit conversation on the phone...but I heard her say "Hello" and I started talking saying hi and I love you. The only response I got from her?

"Kaleb...Kaleb...talk Kaleb???"

I definitely know where this girls allegiance lies
. She wanted nothing to do with me...only Uncle Kaleb. I passed the phone quickly! Pretty cute!

The past month or so...

Not much is new on the home front. I did get a job offer and will start some part time work soon. Not in my field (yeah me for getting a useless masters degree!!) but it will provide a little income. And I know...the degree isn't useless. I'm grateful for it and will use it someday professionally...until then I think Kaleb just LOVES living with an unemployed therapist....oh the joys of seeing neurosis in every situation!

We had fun during the past month celebrating Kaleb's birthday up north with the family. Bowling has been the standard for Kaleb the past few years...thanks for obliging family!

Part of our belated birthday fun was had this past week when we made a trip to Chicago, had lunch at a Brazilian restaurant with some great friends, wandered through IKEA, and ended the night with dinner at a comedy club where we were greatly entertained by Jo Koy and crew.

Apparently I thought it was funny and Kaleb was bored! ;)

Until next month...or so... we hope you each are doing well, staying healthy, and living happily!

The Blizzard of 2011

I don't know if I've ever seen a storm quite like this. Pretty amazing. At least Kaleb had the day off...there was no chance he was going to get anywhere and everything, including CarMax, is closed down. His job tomorrow at work could be pretty interesting as the store tries to clear snow from all of its lots and over 1000 cars. That's right folks...OVER 1000 cars! Imagine clearing your car after a blizzard and multiply it by 1000! Crazy. Here is a few shots from out house.

It took a bit of a "push" to get out the front door.

Our deck is under there somewhere!
Drifts up against our house....and the neighbors.
This was before Kaleb was able to shovel paths for each of us.
I'm not quite sure how he even knew where to start!

Fortunately the fees we pay to our condo association covers snow removal of the main areas. We got by with this little shovel for our patios....but I think it looks pretty tired out...don't you?
